Six of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World have been destroyed during the course of history. The Great Pyramid of Giza: The Great Pyramid of Giza, although there is damage to the front of the monument, still exists and is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing today.
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus: This precious temple was rebuilt a number of times throughout history, the first temple was destroyed by a flood in the 7th century BC, the second temple was destroyed by arson in 356 BC by a man called Herostratus, the third temple was destroyed by the Goths in 268 AD.
The Statue of Zeus at Olympia: The facts surrounding the destruction of the giant figure of Zeus remain uncertain. It may have been destroyed during the great fire of the Lauseion, or it may have been destroyed, along with the temple, during a fire in 425 AD. Historians cannot confirm for certain the date nor reason that the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was in fact destroyed.
The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus: The Tomb of Mausolus was subject to a number of earthquakes which occurred between the 12th to the 15th century and destroyed the tomb at Halicarnassus, leaving the one of the Wonders of the Ancient World in ruins.

It remains uncertain exactly when and who selected the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. They may have been selected around 200 BC by Philo of Byzantium or around 140 BC by Antipater of Sidon who wrote a poem describing six of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World as we know them today, he didn't include a description of the Lighthouse of Alexandria in his poem. The 7 Marvels were listed in guidebooks around the 1st and 2nd centuries BC. Hellenistic travellers soon began keeping records of landmarks, or 'sights' as they'd referred to them, that they'd witnessed and become captivated by during their travels.
