The national flag of Chad, which can be described as a tricolour flag, was adopted on June 11, 1959, and is formed by three vertical stripes, equal in size, which appear in color order of dark blue, gold and red from left to right. The design is very similar to that of the Romanian flag, the main difference being the shade of blue used on the first vertical bar, to which Chad's is darker. The Chadian flag has symbolic meaning that is illustrated by the combination of former colonial French colors; red and blue, and bright Pan-African colors of red and yellow / gold.
